Mill Campground

The new Thane campground at Mill Creek was completed last week with the help of Park Foundation, Glacier Valley, and Juneau-Gastineau Rotary Clubs. Under beautiful Juneau skies, crews spent last week setting it up and getting it ready for the first occupant. The platforms are sturdy and really high quality.

Building a safe place

Thanks to JGR and GV Rotaries and the Juneau Park Foundation, the city this week completed a new campground with 20 platforms, toilet facilities, hand washing stations, potable water, bear-proof storage containers and picnic tables. The Mill Campground is above the cruise ship dock near Thane. There's no limit on how long summer residents can stay (through Oct. 1), and it's free. The two clubs each donated $1,250 to the foundation, which contributed a like amount to build the platforms.
